The idea for Turnaround chair began at a jazz club in South London, a classic environment where there is dining followed by live music. 

After the meal we turned to face the music as it started. Some turned their chairs completely, whilst others spun round and used the backrest as make shift armrest. This sparked the idea to create a piece of furniture that allowed its users to sit comfortably in multiple directions, and further more creating something that encourages its users in social situations such as these.

Turnaround chair is a new typology of contract furniture which reacts to users real world seating habit. The chair invites you to sit in any direction on the chair. Turnaround chair is a production chair for cafés, educational and communal spaces. The chair has a cantilevered backrest/armrest to accommodate the user seating in multiple directions whilst keeping a similar form to a normal, fixed chair. The backrest is made from 3D ply veneers supplied from Danzer.
